How to disable a performance counter:

REGEDIT:

HKLM > SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > Services > (Service name) > Performance:
	Create a key, type DWORD:
	"Disable Performance Counters" (without quotes, with spaces)
	Set value to 1.

The different performance counters I've come across, and what entries in Performance Monitor
that they affect.  Each heading is the service name in the registry, and under each heading 
is the friendly name of the counter that they affect in Performance Monitor.
